I once heard a second grade teacher say to one of her students: "put back
that book. I don't even read books that thick!" It was a Beverly Cleary
book. I reported this to the principal who was appalled and talked to the
teacher about the very negative message, not only for the students but for
anyone listenening. Parents were nearby and shocked at what they heard. I
don't think ANY teacher should ever reveal a dislike for reading. Very poor
judgement!!!
