In response to some recent postings on LM_NET concerning lesson plans and library media curriculum guides, Hanover County in Virginia has a curriculum guide and a lesson plan booklet (a collection of lesson plans ) available on the Internet at http://hcps2.hanover.k12.va.us/instruction/media/default.htm <http://hcps2.hanover.k12.va.us/instruction/media/default.htm> Lesson plans are available in PDF format (for searchability) or Word format (for downloading and modifying). These are just a beginning, and they are not necessarily dynamic, but we are pleased to be able to share. The library media specialists in Hanover County are working diligently to improve our teaching connections and to create more lesson plans based on the National Information Literacy Standards and Virginia Standards of Learning. We would welcome feed back, suggestions, and constructive criticism There are also links to other curriculum information and lesson plans from the Virginia Educational Media Association website at http://www.vema.gen.va.us/index.html <http://www.vema.gen.va.us/index.html> Click on the "Professional" tab and follow the links under "Catch the Key to the SOL." We are excited about the emphasis our state library media organization (VEMA) (Roxanne Mills, President) and our Virginia Department of Education (Charlie Makela, School Library Media and Technology Specialist) are placing on school libraries becoming an integral part of academic achievement for students.
