Koss' book , The Cheat, is a novel about a group of eigth-graders who cheated on a mid-term exam. Although I thought the book was well-written and the characters' responses to cheating were realistic, I was disappointed in the ending. I felt that the cheater was rewarded for his act by becoming more socially accepted. The girl who shared all the answers was never punished, nor felt any regret. I am tempted to return the book, but the reviews I read were all favorable. So, am I missing something? If anyone else has read the book I would love to hear your reactions.
