I got word that plans for dealing with drastic and horrific budget
cuts include my position cut to half time and split with the library
position at the middle school. The middle school librarian will do
both (she has seniority over me). It's not even clear that
arrangement will stay. I think of the seven years I've put into
building the collection and the relationships with kids and teachers.
If there is no one to run the library, you know the collection will
be shot in short order. It is not seen as an academic resource.
Period. And in looking back, I don't know what I could have done
that would have changed opinions on that.
