Hi! I have been using this practice successfully for a few years now. I also use a bell before I make announcements to classes as they continue their work, or to gather them back together as dismissal time approaches. One "ringy-dingy" just means to stop wherever they are, and listen for further direction. I no longer have to raise my voice or travel around the room to get their attention.
