Louise and LM_Netters: If he's right, then wouldn't libraries be empty and shuttered up? I wonder if he's been to a public or college library recently . . . I was at a busy public library this week doing a homework assignment for my college Library Tech class, which just happened to be training for working the reference desk. In the hour that I was there, the reference desk, with two attendants, was RARELY without people needing assistance! There was a steady stream of folks; sometimes a line formed, including several school kids (the time was just after school). What they needed (whether an item or just information)was located for them by the reference desk staff, even though some had "searched the Internet" without success on their own! As I mentioned, this was not the early evening (the normally "busy" time) but right after school. Seems that many folks STILL need libraries AND library staff to help them, despite the Internet!
