I would like to second what Maggi wrote, especially the part about going =
to the teachers. Do whatever you can to make their life easier even if =
it's something that makes yours a little harder...if you can get the =
teachers to feel like you really care about them, they will also send in =
their students more often and ask you for your help.=20

Be visible. My desk is right by the door. I say hi to everyone who
walks by. I have three entrances to my library and teachers and
students walk through all the time (to get prints from the printer,
mostly, but others just to cut through and say hi).

Be available. Give your time to those who need more of it -- namely
teachers. Go to them; don't wait for them to go to you. (I need to
do this more.)

Show off. Use the web to get what they're looking for as they
watch. Point out those databases that nobody uses. Teach classes
for your staff.

Invite people in. Have breakfasts for teachers, just because. Have
parent nights for those parents who can't be in school during the
day.

Have the squishiest, most inviting chair in the building, right by
your entrance.

I look forward to hearing more answers to this question.
