I, somehow, missed the original posting and just wanted to add three more
titles that I didn't see on your list.  _The Climb_ by Anatoli Boukreev
(?sp?) which is the same story as Into Thin Air but told from a different
perspective.  Interesting to read them together.  Also, Paddle to the Amazon
which is the true story of a father and son who paddled a canoe from
Winnepeg, Manitoba to the mouth of the Amazon River - absolutely gripping.
And Addicted: Notes from the Belly of the Beast.  This is a collection of 10
true stories of writers who have battled with various addictions.  Again,
great read.  It also may make some kids think twice about playing around
with street drugs - some of their stories are rather brutal.
