Hi. In a school library setting, when you have students asking for Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White, etc. one has to look in so many different places to obtain the various stories. What I have done is make the call number 398.2 Cinderella, 398.2 Snow White, 398.2 Red Hen, 398.2 Goldilocks, 398.2 Three Pigs, etc. I also put the fractured fairy tales under these numbers, like Cinder Edna, Cinder-Elly, etc. It has worked out very nicely and it is fabulous when you are doing a lesson and need all of one particular fairy tale. I have also done this within the Tall Tale section 398.22 Paul Bunyan, 398.22 John Henry, etc. and the fables section, 398.24 Tortoise, 398.24 Town Mouse, etc. In addtion, we put our Native American folktales under the number 398.23 because it is much easier for teachers and students to browse the one section. I have had a lot of positive feedback from teachers about this re-organization.
