I have been asked to teach two semester-long classes
during the next school year - Library skills of all
things! I really feel that library skills need to be
taught in conjunction with curriculum units to satisfy
benchmarks and standards for each department as well
as for IL, not as a seperate block class! And since I
work alone, with no assistants or paras, it would mean
having to close the library to satisfy this problem.

I was able to teach some skills this year, but was
blocked by teachers in many areas. Offerings were not
accepted, and teachers did not wish to do coordinative
lesson planning. Administration has changed this
month, and the new admin. is not supportive of the
library.

How can I respond to this request without endangering
my job?
