Hi all, In reading about the teachers paying for books (ha ha, would never happen in my school!), I wonder what kind of policy you have about students doing the same. In my three years at this school, we have had a mix...some parents are on top of things and if the child says the book is lost, the parent will pay the cost. Today (and this has happened before) a parent has challenged the bill (the book came back with half a page ripped out, the missing half was NOT returned) and my principal said to let it go. I know it shouldn't bother me so much as if the parent pays by check, the money is gone to never never land (it doesn't get credited back to the library budget!) However I wonder what message we are sending to both student and parent by just "letting it go."
