Folks,
One of my English teachers is looking for a "journey" or "quest" novel to
read with her English elective course next year (I believe it's a Journey
in Lit. type class). She would like to have a title which is "somewhat"
classic, not longer than around 200 pages, and written by a woman. Any
ideas? She's already come up with things like O Pioneers and maybe
something by Amy Tan...She's also considered The Autobiography of Miss
Jane Pittman, even though it was written by a man. She also told me that
if there was one about Muslim women, she'd waive the idea of it being
"somewhat" classic (could be a newer book).
We looked around to see if there was such a list somewhere, and mostly
found syllabi from other teachers/professors who teach this type of
course. Any suggestions to me off the list will be greatly appreciated.
Jody
