I have been working with our economics teacher on a project which ends with a formal student debate of the topic they have researched. We're all a little tired of PowerPoint presentations and backboards. We would like to see more research projects end with formal student debates which require much more analysis of their research and defense of their findings. We would like to construct some kind of student packet with our rules of debate and worksheets to help students organize their research and prepare their arguments. Our big plan is to develop something we can share with all of our teachers. I'm hoping someone out there has something like this in place at their school site that we can look at. I've been searching the web but haven't found much. If any of your teachers have structured debates, I would love to hear about their procedures. Thanks!
