Dr. Allan O'Grady Cuseo, Librarian Bishop Kearney High School Library 125 Kings Highway South Rochester, New York 14617 Education in the tradition of the Christian Brothers library@bkhs.org 585-342-4000 x231 585-342-4694 (FAX) Deb, Here is what I would do - 1. How long should it take to manually inventory about 10,000 books? (It's just me-no aides!) I would give it 3 -4 weeks. 2. How do/did you mark shelflist cards while performing inventory to identify missing books? I used to stand up cards for missing titles or volumes. If a missing volume I would mark next to the volume number msg month/year 3. How do you define "closed" during inventory? (No checkouts? No students at all? Only students with teachers?) Closed means closed -- period -- with doors locked. I have found that if you are interrupted - it gets confusing...someone always touches the cards, or you forget where you are, etc. Closed means no one comes in!
