It has been very, very Monday today. I have been dealing unsuccessfully
with problems from vendors, administrators, and teachers to the point of
not being able to think, resulting in this conversation:
Student: I have a 10 dollar bill and I want to make a copy
Slow-witted librarian: You can't do that. It is illegal to copy
currency ... (long rambling explanation about copying money, suggestions
of clip-art alternatives, yada, yada, yada)
Student: (looking stunned, confused) Huh?
Slow-witted librarian: (getting a little annoyed, making it simple for
this slow-witted student) I can't let you make a copy of a 10 dollar
bill.
Student: I don't want to copy the 10 dollar bill, I want to copy this
(holding up scholarship application). I want to pay with a 10 dollar
bill.
Slow-witted librarian: (a look of comprehension slowly spreading across
his face) Oh! The machine only takes ones, go get change from the
bookkeeper.
And it's not even lunch time.
