I have not had an opportunity to read the "A Series of
Unfortunate Events" but I would agree with Mary Green on
one thing. Jim Carey is Jim Carey in life and on screen
and he is so "out there" that he often appears out of
control. I took my sweet little nieces to see "How the
Grinch..." without previewing it and was so repulsed by
the, dare I say, "bastardization" of the Dr. Seuss story
and Carey's maniacal, sinister, performance that I felt
assaulted. Evil is one thing but Carey's routine when I
watch him in interviews leads me to believe that if he
isn't acting then his portrayal of being mentally unstable
is not an act. Of course, after I read the books, perhaps
he may be just the one to play the part.
