Since I installed a firewire card in my Gateway computer, I cannot ftp using
my cable modem (Charter). Apparently Port 21 is blocked. However, I can
ftp using a dial-up line on the same computer and I can ftp on Charter on my
old computer. I had a problem a week ago with multiple IP addresses and
Gateway said it was my firewall, ZoneAlarm Pro, and uninstalled it. I
reinstalled it thinking that a partial uninstall might be the problem but
that didn't work. I disabled the firewall completely and that didn't work.
I feel that it is a problem with the firewire card since there is a new
enalbled LAN connection called 1394 in the Network Connection control panel.
Does anyone have any idea of what is causing this problem?
My computer is back at Gateway since I didn't want to try to remove the
firewire card myself with a telephone technician but I would appreciate any
help that I can get. I'm back on my old computer which is fine, but a bit
slow.
