Tech: Spectrum In Hand

In attempting to set up our IN Hand portable barcode scanner, we need to
configure a Dell Optiplex computer COM 1 serial port to receive the
data.  I have been told to go into BIOS to do this.  Anyone out there
have any suggestions? Getting Sagebrush support has been well nigh
impossible!
