TARGET: barcode reader

I have checked the archives but because technology changes so fast I would =
like a few opinions. We are automating five buildings and need to purchase =
 barcode readers. Currently at the high school we have a pen type which is =
ok, but not great. We're thinking the "gun" style which also has a stand. =
We also wonder whether we can buy one "remote" instrument and share it =
among us.=20

Any wisdom you care to share is appreciated.=20
