NPR feature

On the way to school Tues. a.m. (May 27) I heard a feature on NPR's
Morning Edition on the results of Victory Schools takeover of Philadelphia
schools. Victory Schools took drastic action at one school featured:
eliminated librarian, closed library and turned it into a computer center!
 It was so sad to hear how devastated the staff was at losing the "heart
of their school" but worse was the response of the Victory Schools
spokesperson who felt it was a good decision and had no regrets!  I urge
everyone to go to the link below and hear the interview at the NPR site.
Obviously Victory Schools hasn't heard about Keith Curry Lance's research
on the impact of libraries on student achievement. This is an absolutely
depressing feature!
