LM_NET Archive



This discussion reminds me of some students I had 2 or 3 years ago.
Their teacher brought that BACK to the library, because they had
declared that there were no books on their topics.  He knew that was not
true.  I gave them some quick instruction on how to use related subject
headings etc.  I then made the error of telling them that if we had no
books in our library on their topic, I would be happy to do an
interlibrary loan.  I then showed them how to search the surrounding
libraries.  Well - perhaps you have guessed it.  Several of them printed
out the titles of books from other libraries and asked us to order them
- because they were too lazy to get out of their chairs and find the
exact same books which were right on our own shelves.    Grrrrrr!
