Colleagues-

October 1, the ERIC IT Clearinghouse released Developing
Digital Libraries for K-12 Education. I edited this volume
and wrote the intro chapter, but the *real* value is in the
excellent writing about K-12 digital libraries contributed
by teams from:

The Eisenhower National Clearinghouse
The MathForum
The Gateway to Educational Materials (GEM)
The Gender and Science Digital Library
The International Children's Digital Library
Artemis
The Instructional Architect
CreateStudio
The Virtual Reference Desk
LearnAlberta.ca

This is the  first book devoted exclusively to digital libraries for
K-12 education. Although many studies, reports, and articles have
explored how  digital collections, services, and communities have
transformed the  university environment, little research has been done
on the educational potential and possible implementation challenges for
digital libraries for K-12 users. Helping to fill this void, this volume

brings together the research and implementation work of authors
united by the common mission of transforming K-12 education.
Each of these authors has taken the "best practices" of the DL
community and applied those principles to DLs designed for the
K-12 domain.
