Book Suggestion-Deaf Children

Hi, LM Net Friends,

I want to share with you an absolutely beautifully illustrated book that =
worked so well with the students at my school. The book is=20

Elves and the Shoemaker by Jim LaMarche

2003. Chronicle books. 0-8118-3477-8

I heard LaMarche speak at the Mazza Summer Institute. I fell in love =
with his version of the Elves and the Shoemaker. I liked the book so =
well that I bought one for myself and one for my school library.

It's one thing for a grown-up to love a book, but it's quite another =
when a book is just as well received by children.=20

I presented Elves and the Shoemaker to a group ranging in age from 5 to =
11 years old and they loved it. They lingered over the pictures and were =
captivated by the magic of the story. I remember loving this story as a =
child. I guess a great story is a great story even fifty years later! La =
Marche's illustrations are the icing on the cake.
