copyright question

Hello!  We'd like to play music, from copyrighted CDs, before the
morning news begins at our middle school.  Teachers are complaining
about the "white noise" before the actual news starts, so we thought
abut replacing it with music    Can we do this?  I've checked several
sources but have not found an answer.
