There is that assumption that librarians know everything--or atleast have the
ability to find out. My father wrote his memoirs--which turned out pretty
well, actually--similar in a way to Angela's Ashes--and would love to give it a
go at getting published. (he is an eighty-year-old retired college professor
who spent his formative years in an orphan's home) Naturally, he turns to me,
the librarian to help him!!!!! He is also realizing he doesn't have all that
much time left--I think I hit a nerve when I told him that sometimes it takes
years of rejections before a work gets picked up by a publisher!!!!! So, since
this librarian doesn't know everything, I'm trying my darnedest to find
out--and am turning to you more knowledgeable librarians to help me out. Any tips,
guidance and knowlege you have on the publishing world and how to get an "in'
would be most appreciated.
