I haven't read all of this discussion, but the last couple that I've seen have mentioned "heels." I never have worn heels to any job--they are bad for one's toes, arches of the foot, calves of the leg, knees, hips, and lower back...not just uncomfortable, but downright harmful. I would hope no dress code requires them. Just my two cents worth.
