Our former principal of 25+ years (may she rest in peace) was against
flipflops, clogs, and those Dr Scholls wooden bottom sandals for the
students. Always reprimanded students she caught wearing them - it was
a safety issue, ; the students couldn't travel safely up and down the
stairs in them (and forget about rushing down the stairs in a crowd -
like during a fire drill or after school). Yet she never made an issue
about it for teachers. We've had 2 interim principals this year
(since September), and not a thing about a dress code... we'll see what
happens as it gets very warm in May/June... and when we get a permanent
principal for next September.
