We are a PreK-5 school with 460+ students from a variety of cultures.
Roland Smith gave a one hour presentation to students in grades 1-5 this
week. As noted in an earlier posting, he usually speaks to middle school
students however, he was excellent. He held the students' attention and
was able to relate to this age level well. He spoke about his work
helping endangered species and encouraged students to write about what is
important to them. Our kids also loved him and can't get enough of his
books. He was easy to work with, only requesting a media cart, a large
screen and a remote controlled slide projector (he has a wireless remote
adapter that will connect to older wired-remote projectors ). Roland was
the speaker at our regional Young Authors Celebration and was well
received there as well. He and his wife are writing several more books
for the elementary age.
