I read "The Chocolate Touch" to my third graders under the same time constraints that you have. I don't read them the book every session. I mix up the story reading with information skill sessions involving the book. For example, we do an encyclopedia fact finding exercise re.the history of chocolate. We compare King Midas to John Midas. We do a thinking map comparing John's addiction to chocolate to other addictions We do spend several weeks on it, but they love it and get the information skills in there without even knowing it.
