Penny, the carts are great, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

1. Make sure to have a procedure for getting them in and out - who does
it, in what steps
2. One of the reasons for #1 is to make sure that they get plugged in
for charging when        =20
   they are returned.
3. If wireless network access is important, pick the vendor carefully
and it's worth paying a premium to get stuff that works. My
ex-district bought 3COM and after 2 years and 3 or 4 firmware upgrades
it is still not reliable. I have heard good things about Cisco, but you
pay.=20

Subject: TECH: Laptops in the library

Does anyone have a library with only laptops for students to use for
research, word processing, etc.? My library has 2 computers that are
over 12 years old, they cannot load new programs and are always breaking
down. I am thinking about giving them away and only using a cart
laptops. I'd love to hear from anyone who has tried this in their
school library.
Thank you,
Peggy
