Target::-> middle school hidstorical novels relevant to Virginia SOL's

Dear Librarians,

Our new principal wants me to order class sets of
novels for 5th-8th grades relevant to Virginia Social
Studies SOL's.  Has anyone prepared such a list of
titles for any of these grade levels? My call for
titles from the faculty has yielded few suggestions.
Thanks to anyone who can suggest interesting, grade
appropriate novels to be used in the classroom.  (We
have Devil's Arithmetic, A Year Down Yonder, Roll of
Thunder, Hear My Cry, and a few others.) I have
several novels in mind, but would like to see what
others have used for these grades.
