I would like to add to Tish's comment: Walter came and spoke to our
students in October. He did a fabulous presentation for the high
schoolers for Banned Books Week - the teachers and a number of students
told me this was the best assembly they had ever seen. Two weeks later
he came back and spoke to the middle school, booktalked a bunch of new
books, and discussed why students do or do not want to read books
assigned in school. I can't praise him enough - it was possibly the
best money I've ever spent! If you can fit him into your schedule, for
the teachers or for the students, it is well worth the effort.
