The U.S. Patent Office would have some of the information that you might
need regarding inventions. They are located at:

If you have specific questions about an invention, you may need to =
contact a
patent librarian. Those are listed here:

librarians are usually directly associated with a patent library /
depository; however, they usually don't have the time to specifically =
guide
you through a search unless you are physically there at the library. =
You
might be able to contact a librarian to ask questions by email. (When I
worked at Oklahoma State University, the state's only patent library was =
on
our campus---and the librarians were in our division---this was a great
resource and they were always very helpful, even when they didn't have =
the
time to be....hopefully, you'll find it's the same with your state's
depository!)
