Our Eleventh Grade English classes are working on a research paper dealing
with "The American Dream" They will be dealing with the period of
American History between 1840 and 2000. They are to assume they have just
arrived in America in search of the "American Dream" and describe what they
found politically, economically, and culturally and how it influenced their
thoughts and feelings about the "American Dream". I have online resources
for the students to use but lack in the print source area. Luckily my
local fellow school libraries are lending us some sources for them to use.

My question is this. I am working on our list of materials to order for
next year. If this project is to be an on going one, I'd like to start
building print resources in our own media center. Have you used anything
that you feel would be appropriate for this research project? If you could
only order one resource...what would it be?

Thank you,
