I did a fairly, I think, radical Black History Month unit and now I am
planning to do the same thing for the girls: talking about the right to
vote, how girls are portrayed as weak, defenseless in the very books I have
in my school library. I want my students - this is an elementary school - to
bring in their social study books and have them count how many men are
mentioned in the index vs. women. Any other ideas? If anyone needs a shot in
the arm, it is the girls in my school.

Thank you all!
