I am going to be working in a K-5 elementary for the
first time this year, and am thinking of reading a
whole chapter novel to the 4's and 5's, which I will
let them choose from our North Carolina book awards.

For those of you who do something similar as part of
your curriculum, do you read the entire book in
back-to-back sessions, or do you intersperse the
readings with library skills lessons? Seems to me the
students might have trouble remembering the plot if I
don't read it from session to session. Also, at what
point in the year do you read the novel and why?

Thanks for your help.
