I try to remember to take out the "extra junk" for that reason, but
sometimes I deliberately leave in a line or two to remind readers to
what I am responding, as with this one. Sometimes if there is a time
lapse in between, a response can be senseless otherwise, if the original
has been forgotten or maybe never received or read.

Speaking of which, was there something in the original "Nigerian lost
in space" message which might have gotten filtered? I got the reply
dealing with the fire pumper toy, but not the original message.

one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit
facts." Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.

mine. People who reply on list to someone's query or comments and then
