Could you erect a "buffer" a couple of those panels that are used to make cubicles or room dividers? They are covered in a cloth like material and help buffer some of the noise. Highsmith sells them as do other companies. I just looked and you can find them by going to the site and typing in panel divider. There are many kinds. Another thought, do you have some movable bookshelves that you could use to "wall off" an area of the copier? That would help cut down on the noise. I assume only adults will be using the copier so you won't have to worry about supervising children in that area.
