When I posted this weekend, I was happily sharing the fact that my husband
chose the book over the movie for the first time. Of course I know the
difference between a movie's purpose and a book. What I saw here was a lost
opportunity... when we were standing in line for the 10 pm show, my #2 son announced
that he'd be going back to the bookstore as soon as we were done with the
show. When I told him the bookstore would be closed, he was flabbergasted and
said, "How will all those people buy their own copy of the book after they see the
movie?" When we arrived home at 1 a.m., he immediately picked up one of our
copies of the book to take to bed telling us he was going to go read the book
and see what he missed. He has emerged a couple times since then for food.
Imagine the movie theatres having the books for sale in addition to popcorn
as you left....
