You are absolutely right about the crew going to see the movies in the
theater. Remember, that most of the crew  work on only one part of the
movie: if they're in production, they only work in their field [lighting,
camera, assistant, catering, etc]. If they're in post-production, they  work
on whatever  their job is [special effects, editing, music, etc]. So it is
rare that they see the completed project. Sometimes they see it at a
worker's viewing, but not always. One time I got to go see the original Star
Wars movie in the theater with a lot of the folk who worked on it. It was so
much fun listening to them talk about the different parts...but the best fun
was at the credits when they all cheered for each other as their names came
up.
What a business!
