I've been finding it nearly impossible to get books back from teachers, =
but
I think the problem is that I let them check materials out for the full =
year
and by the time I ask for the books back at year's end they don't even
remember borrowing them. Next year, I'm going to set a two or three week
"due date" for teachers and send them reminder notes as often as I send =
out
lists of students who owe books. Maybe that will help...maybe.

Subject: Re: GETTING BOOKS BACK: Teachers!

I always have a few students who don't get books back, but it is amazing =
how
many books are suddenly found when the thought of a popscicle comes up! =
I
reward each class that gets all their books 'taken care of' by a certain
date popscicles. By taken care I mean paid for if the book is not found.

Unfortunately this year my problem has been a teacher who still has 30+
books out. 'Oh, I'll find them' she said...but I have yet to see them =
and
school has been out for 2 weeks. I am tempted to go into her classroom =
and
see if I can find any of them! My principal is aware of who on the staff
still has books out; last year I know she did some reinforcing for me =
but if
she did this year it hasn't worked with this one! I know our district =
has a
policy about student responsibility; I need to check and see what there =
is
about teacher responsibility.
