Share: Fun Contest to Promote Reading

Dear Friends,

Yesterday we completed what turned into quite a fun contest at our school.  I 
invited students to submit a photograph of themselves reading in their favorite 
spot.  I encouraged them to find strange and unusual places to read.  We had quite 
a lot of good entries--children on horseback, sitting in trees, sledding, in 
bathtubs, etc.  To guarantee unbiased judging, I took all the entries home for my 
husband to select winners.

I announced winners yesterday on Dr. Seuss day.  We put all the submissions up on a 
bulletin board entitled "Oh, the Places You Can Read." As prizes I gave Dr. Seuss 
books and Barnes and Noble gift cards.
