I order all equipment for the school. All of it is cataloged and barcoded. For overheads I use a marker and put bulb ID on machine -- makes for easier replacement. The equipment is checked out to the teachers for the year and is returned at the end of the year for cleaning. I also store it all (I can lock it up better than teachers as the building is in use by outside groups all summer - and things tend to walk). The cataloging record includes bulb ID - model number- serial number - barcode. I put a posit note with teacher's name on equipment when it is returned -- they tend to enjoy the same model/machine - and this ensures they will get their favorite back. The equipment is not etched in any way but it is marked with name of school.
