Thanks to all who sent me suggestions. Below is a HIT for
everyone else who is interested.

(A good point made by Liz McMahon is that the hi/low books
should look "normal", something especially important to
middle school and high school kids. -- thank you Liz!)

Many of the suggested publishers (HIGH NOON, CAPSTONE --
www.capstonepress.com) will be found on lists at this
website:
http://www.resourceroom.net/comprehension/hilow.asp
An interesting article analyzing hi/low books can be found
at. Since I'm new to the world of hi/low, I found the article
very informative:
http://www.resourceroom.net/comprehension/idahilocomp.asp

PERFECTION LEARNING was described as "...attractive and fun."

The following series of books/authors were also recommended:
Jigsaw Jones (mystery series)
Magic Tree House books
Paula Danzinger books
A to Z mysteries
Time Warp Trio (series)
Zach Files
Stone Fox

A couple of librarians suggested the vendor PERMABOUND (one
endorsement was a bit luke warm, but still thought it was
helpful). Its catalog has groupings of titles, and HI/LOW is
one of them.

Highly recommended was ORCA SOUNDINGS. The web address is:
http://www.orcabook.com/
...and the address for the full US catalog is:
http://www.orcabook.com/uscatalog.pdf

Something interesting and revealing happened as I was
compiling this HIT. I received a telephone call from FOLLETT
telling me that "they" knew I was interested in hi/low books
and wanted to tell me about the books FOLLETT offers. I guess
our LIST SERV is interesting to a lot of people!

Many thanks, again.
