Qualifications (required): =B7 Masters in Library Science from and accredited institution or= School Library Media Teacher Credential =B7 School library experience or teaching experience =B7 Ability to work with and communicate well with teachers, students= and staff Qualifications (desired): =B7 Ability to maintain discipline in a relatively unstructured= environment=20 =B7 Ability to assess students=92 skills=20 =B7 Very good organizational skills, detail-oriented and= self-motivated =B7 Have a working knowledge of books read at different age levels Comments: Harvard-Westlake is a school designed for students who possess both the= motivation and the ability to pursue a rigorous college preparatory course= of study. At Harvard-Westlake Middle School, the Seeley G. Mudd Library is= a busy, active, and welcoming part of the school. It serves a student= population of 750 along with 60+ faculty. The collection comprises= approximately 17,000 books, 80 periodical titles, and access to numerous= on-line sources. The library's automated catalog allows students to search= not only Harvard-Westlake's Middle and Upper School library collections,= but also the collections of fourteen other independent school libraries in= Southern California, a total of approximately 200,000 volumes. The library= staff reaches out actively to serve students and faculty and support their= information needs. The library is cooperatively involved with all academic= departments in a team-taught program of library research, integrated= information literacy and technology skills. Assignments, recreational= reading and research projects bring students into the library frequently.
