As the devil's advocate, isn't there room for some flexibility here? Sometimes I think we get altogether too serious about the side play of the bibliography and forget about the main game which is the assignment. Look at your students - is every one of them going to go to university which is one of the few places in real life where bibliographies are commonly used? If so, maybe you do need to dot the i's and cross the t's but if they are your average run-of-the-mill kids with a million destinations to visit, why not accept the fact that at least they demonstrating that they know about plagiarism through acknowledging the source of their information, and if a tiny URL is it, then that's cool. Think about the lifelong learning here - in five years time what do you want/ expect students to know about bibliographies? That is what should guide your teaching, and while it is right that they need to follow one form or another for standardisation purposes, don't tear your hair out over issues that don't matter in the big scheme of things..
