TAR: k-2 read aloud time

Friends,

This is my first year as a school librarian.  I see my k-2 classes once a
week for 30 minutes.  This includes a book exchange.  I have been reading to
my  first and second graders for about 20 minutes and allowing 10 minutes
for book exchanges.  In your experienced opinion, is this appropriate?
