Thanks so very much to the wonderful LM-Netters that submitted suggestions
to me. Jamie (see the first posting) offered her services as a
Kidspiration trainier, if anyone else had questions. She requested that
you put "Kidspirtiation question" in the subject line as she also gets
many, many e-mails a day.

It is appropriate for K-6, tho' I must admit to preferring Inspiration for
3rd
and up. There is a terrific amount of information on the Inspiration web
site
(www.inspiration.com) including downloadable workshop scripts that will
talk
you right through your first workshop with your staff.
I am a trainer for Inspiration so if you encounter any problems, do not
hesitate to ask. It is helpful if your message says "Kidspiration
question"
or "Inspiration question".

Look at Kidspiration website--they include many examples.
I use with younger and older students.
For Presidents Day--student drew a president and had to gather certain
facts--lifespan, family, term of office, why remembered, etc. and then
copied an online image for center and spun off with bubbles of info.
With younger kids I did an All about Me--project with bubbles of personal
info such as family, grade/teacher in school, best friends, pets, favorite
subjects, hobbies, sports, etc.
There is just a myriad list of projects you can have them do that fit any
curriculum.
Also do a book report this way.
Have fun--

Also many templates included witin program.

The best suggestion I have for you regarding Kidspiration.....with any
grade level.... is to have the students create their webs FIRST....before
they start to select the fun graphics that they can use for the webs. I
have the students get the web OKed and then let them select the graphics
to "spruce" up their webs and make them FUN. Otherwise, I have found that
they spend all of their time selecting graphics and never get down to the
real task at hand.

**********************************************************************************************************************

Do a google search and you will find lots of sites.

**********************************************************************************************************************

If you go to the Inspiration Software web site,
http://www.inspiration.com/home.cfm and click on Curriculum Integration,
they have information and examples, including books they sell.

**********************************************************************************************************************

My advice to you is to take some time (when you have at least 30
minutes of uninterrupted time) and completely go through the program,
looking at all of the templates they already have created for you.
Imagine how they can be incorporated into the projects and programs that
you already have in place.

**********************************************************************************************************************

We started using Kidspiration this year, and I initially didn't really
check it out because I thought I needed a book of lesson plans or ideas
first. Once I actually checked the program out, I realized how many
great templates already come with the program, and how little work I
needed to do to prepare lessons using Kidspiration. We use it a lot in
with our reading program, and it's really quite easy! Once you get
familiar with the program, then you can start creating your own
templates and lessons, but initially, there's plenty already there for
you!

What are the ages of the kids you are teaching as there are many places
where you can source Kidspiration templates. Patti's downloads are
available here:

There are others that I found just doing a search in Google using
Kidspiration
templates as the search parameters;

http://www.oswego.org/staff/cchamber/inspire/kidspiration.htm
http://www.lawrence.org/edlinks/menu.htm
http://www.strategictransitions.com/samplekidspirationtemplates.htm
http://www.spart5.k12.sc.us/TechTraining/KidspirationMatrix.htm

There are 5,200 + other hits to look at. Please shout if you want me to
download
anything specifically to send to you as an attachment. The Kidspired
Bunnies
project of Susan Silverman was a great project and it would be good to get
onto
her mailing list.

If you go to the website for the Inspiration software, you will find
lots of resources and books for helping you get started. Our district
provided workshops for our teachers to get them started using
Kidspiration with the kiddos.

Who would just load a program on ES computers without inservice, manuals
etc.?

The Kidspiration/Inspiration website
(http://www.inspiration.com/resources/index.cfm) is terrific -- lots of
advice. We are a Middle School and use Inspiration -- kids, teachers,
administration, everyone utilizes it. Kidspiration is designed for
primary through 4th grade.

-I would love a hit to kidspiration. We have it in a K-8 school. I
just started this year, but I love the program. Some Ideas are graphic
organizers for the older kids--I'm going to try to do a graphic organizer
with 3rd on an inventors project with the reading teacher. I have done a
cummulative story with K. An activity on community and Venn Diagrams with
1st. Going to try a graphic organizer in May with 2nd (My favorite things
in 2nd grade). I'm just starting to get into it and I love it. So a
google
search on Kidspiration and you will get all sorts of ideas--Hope this
helps--

so I am always mildly baffled when I take out the instructions, show a
(beginning college) student the software and walk through organizing
information... and they leap at it like my cat at turkey scraps, and spend
the next hour independently using it. I still don't "get it" :-) I have
*not* used the features which I suspect would be more applicable to
younger students at all.

Last year I reviewed Kidspiration and Inspiration for a grad school
class. I found TONS of lesson plans and ideas on the Internet. There
also are some books out there, but I haven't purchased any of them, so I
can't make a recommendation. I think both programs are wonderful and once
your teachers start to use them, they will be used quite often.

Go to the Inspiration web site to get some ideas. Kidspiration and
Inspiration are both wonderful programs. I use Inspiration in my
library skills classes. Check out books and other materials here:

I have a Kidspiration template that I made for grade 3 about time and will
attach it here though it may be too hard for 6 year old students. I have
a
link to the British site that is super for time:
