My Animalia book is out in the garage and it is only 5AM, but I will try to remember to check it out this morning before I go to school. It is a wonderful book! Victoria has a picture book museum where people can go and see original art work from picture books. The first time I went there, Graeme Base had a page from Animalia. When he draws he starts at one corner and works his way across. Look at the picture with the giraffe (I think!) His head is outside of the frame. That is because Graeme started from the bottom of the page and ran out of room by the time he got to the top! He was also overseas at the time he was making the book and had to keep mailing the pictures to his publisher. The originals are quite large. Another book you might be interested in is Whatley's Quest by Bruce Whatley and Rosie Smith. This is what they said about the book: When we created Whatley's Quest we spent many hours pouring over a dictionary and found many different kinds of words to include in it and then enjoyed hiding them in the illustrations. Look out for the hidden letter on each page, some will be easy to find, but others will be difficult "Attacking ants affect Archer's aimed arrow but it bounces off Big Brown Bear and catches on the curve of Camel's crystal ball." "The gorilla gazing glumly on the globe because the fox has filched a fragment of his map." Dona J. She is reading the book Animalia by Graeme Base with the kids. They are practicing their alliteration skills and within each page there are many pictures hidden in the illustration using the same letter. The problem is that she doesn't know what some of these pictures are. Does anyone know where she could find a list of the hidden pictures in the book? Thanks very much.
