     My assistant and I "plasticize" the covers of all paperbacks with clear
tape of varying widths from Demco before we let them circulate.  We find it
to be well worth the extra time since paperbacks are so much cheaper,
especially when obtained from book fairs.   Covered with the tape, they hold
up rather well.  Sometimes, (for example, in the case of the thick Harry
Potter books,) they hold up better than hardcovers.
